  1. ΩSANE Beta Release Version 1.0b4

  4. This beta release of ΩSANE obtains substantial speed-up for floating-point
  5. arithmetic through SANE toolbox traps.  The speed-up applies to all
  6. Macintosh platforms except the Macintosh LC and the Macintosh IIsi without
  7. FPU.  On these new machines, the SANE toolbox traps have comparable
  8. performance to “backpatched” ΩSANE, so we have chosen not to install
  9. on these configurations.  ΩSANE will install on a Macintosh IIsi which
  10. does have an FPU, and will provide enhanced performance.  Please see the
  11. Release Notes for further details on ΩSANE.

  13. The Version 1.0b1 release revealed an error in the binary<->decimal
  14. conversions which caused an infinite loop (on a vanishingly small set of
  15. input values); many thanks to the people at Language Systems for uncovering
  16. this problem.  The bug was fixed in the 1.0b3 release (Version 1.0b2
  17. was an Apple internal release only).

  19. Version 1.0b4 fixes a bug which caused erroneous rounding in certain
  20. (very infrequent) circumstances, and only when halts were enabled.
